Bodacious Bakehouse will be bringing their freshly baked, handmade artisan breads and pastries to Norfolk as part of our market this season! The Bodacious Bakers pride themselves on fresh-from-the-oven taste, with no additives or preservatives. “Good bread is the most fundamentally satisfying of all foods; and good bread with fresh butter, the greatest of feasts.” – James Beard
Located in Virginia Beach, BowWowMeow Baking Co. offers all natural treats for your furry family members. Their treats are made from simple, wholesome, healthy ingredients--a world apart from the dye-, chemical- and preservative-filled treats found on grocery store shelves. The flours used are made from organic, non-GMO whole grains (oat and/or brown rice). BowWowMeow uses fresh local farm eggs, local honey, and their peanuts and all natural peanut butter come from nearby Suffolk, VA. They also offer Grain Free Sweet Potato Chip dog treats made with organic sweet potatoes from the Eastern Shore. BowWowMeow Baking Co. never uses wheat, corn, soy (all common allergens for dogs) or anything artificial.
Brentwood Farm is located in Suffolk. They have pasture raised, grass fed lamb, born and raised on their farm. Various cuts of lamb are offered throughout the season. Additionally, they offer wool roving and dryer balls. Lavender is also grown on the farm. They have created a beautifully packaged line of all natural lavender body care products--crafted and packaged right on the farm. Perfect for your own daily use, or they make a great gift!
Who doesn't love a good taco? The Colley Cantina Taco Truck is rolling into the market every Wednesday for the rest of the season! Colley Cantina has been a fixture on Colley Avenue for years but has been under new ownership since late last year (the same owners as Starving Artist Cafe on North Colley). The Baja-style tacos they serve up are fresh and tasty! Enjoy them as you shop (served on a keepsake frisbee!) or as a take-home dinner (ask for an eco-friendly, covered to-go box). Menu options will vary a bit weekly, so stop by to take a look at the blackboard.
Chef Sydney Meers may have hung up his apron temporarily when he closed his iconic restaurant Stove back in May, but you can't keep him out of the kitchen for long. Each week Sydney comes to the Market with an array of neo-southern and gourmet goodness from his line of Cowboy Syd's Products. Chef Meers has been well known and loved by the Hampton Roads culinary community for many years. He has the distinction of having been a 2016 Mid-Atlantic Best Chef Semifinalist for the James Beard Award of Excellence. These days he is taking a step back from a very successful 45-year restaurant career, which includes his legendary eateries The Dumbwaiter, Cowboy Syd's and, most recently, Stove, in Port Norfolk, to bring unforgettable items from his kitchen and farmette to you at the Hampton Blvd Farmers Market. At the market, he will be offering many of the items used in dishes at his restaurants over the years--including his Cowboy Syd’s World Famous D'lish Sauce (aka "16 oz of Glory in a bottle"), his "Not Hot" Pepper Sauce, two varieties of his famous cured hams (one a salt cured country style ham, and the other a fast, wet cured tasso-style ham he calls his "Smoochie Bear Ham"), heirloom grits that are ground to his specifications, his signature coffee beans, his popular hamburger relish, his signature spice mix, and his 15 year-old barrel aged vanilla extract. Cullipher Farm will be bringing mountains of fresh, locally grown fruits and veggies to the market all season! Cullipher Farm is located atop the fertile Pungo Ridge in southern Virginia Beach. The farm is family owned and operated by fourth and fifth generation Culliphers. They proudly grow over 250 varieties of the highest quality fruits and vegetables! They consider strawberries, sweet corn and tomatoes to be their specialties.
After many requests from friends, Terry Nelson started offering her cakes for purchase in 2007, and Dessert Classics was born. By 2009, her cakes were selected for the "Virginia's Finest" award, placing her cakes among "the best of the best" of Virginia-made products. Her business has grown into a line of signature cakes, cupcakes and mini tarts, and she also offers a truly delicious all natural lemon curd. Her top selling cakes are Chocolate Buttermilk Cake, Vanilla Pound Cake, Pumpkin Cake and Classic Rum Cake. One of her newest creations is her Holiday Fresh Fruit Fruitcake! Terry is also known for her hand-sculpted sugar art cake decorations, which are perfect for showers, weddings, holiday meals and other special occasions. Terry is happy to speak with you about special occasion orders.
Doughminion Donuts is a downtown Norfolk donut shop featuring both classic and one-of-a-kind varieties! Just looking at these is a treat, so can you imagine eating one?? Pick up some for breakfast, for the office, or for the team. Stephanie and her crew make yeast, old fashioned and even some vegan donuts!
Fork & Spoon wants to help take the hassle out of your holiday. They are bringing freshly prepared items to help you round out your holiday entertaining menu. Just heat & eat! Choose from sweet potato ham biscuits, fresh cranberry sauce, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, and roasted sweet potato casserole, plus brioche French toast and spinach/red bell pepper/mozzarella quiche for your holiday houseguests.
Meet the Cheesemaker! Norfolk’s own Patrick Curry is the owner and CEC (Chief Executive Cheesemaker) of Fayton Farms Artisan Cheeses. He will be attending the market to personally introduce you to his line of finely crafted small batch cheeses. Patrick uses only fresh, wholesome milk sourced from family-owned farms in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, where Jersey cows feed on open pastures and produce a rich and flavorful milk that is ideally suited to making the finest quality cheese. He then handcrafts and ages his cheeses in a small fromagerie in Mechanicsville before bringing them to you at Hampton Blvd Farmers Market.
We are happy to have the Wilson family from Full Quiver Farm in Suffolk joining us at the market! They will be bringing grass-fed beef, pasture-raised chicken and eggs, pork and sausages. And you can cross dinner off your list at their "Farmer's Grill," featuring sandwiches made with their delicious meat and eggs. Their goal is to bring environmentally responsible "clean" food to your table. Non-GMO, organic methods, no hormones, no pesticides, no herbicides. Introduce your family to “clean eating!”
Hampton Roads Winery is a family-owned winery located in Surry County. They specialize in Bordeaux and American varieties, with over 11 acres of vines planted in 2 vineyards. It is also the home of red Angus cattle and Nigerian Dwarf goats, who live in the World's Tallest Goat Tower. Also try their Drunken Goat Wine Slushie Mix—perfect for a hot day. Attends 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month.
Monica serves up all natural gourmet pops, crafted by hand with joy! Watch for flavors such as Orange Mango, Watermelon Basil, Mexican Chocolate, Peach Jalapeño, Cookies & Cream and Pineapple Coconut. Many flavors are gluten free, dairy free and vegan.
Shellfish lovers rejoice! Lynnhaven River Oyster Company will be at the market weekly with their famous salty oysters from Broad Bay in Virginia Beach! They are also well known for their rich, delicious crab soup. Once the weather warms up, they will be bringing crabmeat, crab cakes, shrimp and scallops, too. Red Mushroom Brewing Company brews Kombucha, a lightly carbonated probiotic tea, at their studio/brewery in Norfolk. Kombucha has been around for centuries and its popularity has surged in recent years as a "health drink," as it is believed to be beneficial for digestion, your immune system and more. They are currently the only Kombucha brewery in the state to receive the "Virginia's Finest" commendation. Stop by to sample their current selection of flavors, some made with locally sourced fruit and botanicals. Sip a glass, or fill a growler to go!
We must give you fair warning....One bite and you'll be hooked! State Fair Popcorn is dedicated to making the highest quality kettlecorn and popcorn possible. They have a specialty heirloom corn grown for them that is organic and non-GMO. Enjoy your favorite flavors like Classic Kettle and Movie Theatre or something exciting and new like Dill Pickle, Honey Mustard, Garlic Parmesan, Buffalo Wing, Pizza, Lemon Meringue, Cinnamon or Chocolate! Flavors vary weekly.
We are happy to have Sunshine Farm and Apiary join us at the market! Jennifer is a local beekeeper selling local raw honey, cut comb honey, gourmet creamed honeys, beeswax, and handmade soaps made using bee products. Their USDA-inspected hives are located in Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Suffolk. They also offer the sale of live bees to other beekeepers, with pickup at their home location. Sometimes they bring an observation hive to the market. Come down and visit them to see what all the buzz is about.
The Creative Wedge is a local specialty retail store, located at Hilltop in Virginia Beach, whose aim is to promote awareness of American artisanal food and craft, including artisan cheeses. They are well known for their housemade cheese spreads, particularly Sloane's Smoked Gouda Dip, the top seller, as well as pimento cheese and others. In addition, they offer a variety of regional artisan cheeses. Chow Chows are their newest foodie project; look for two flavors at the market. They also bring Speedy's hot sauces and bloody Mary mix.
Robin is a farmer/florist bringing you the freshest, locally grown, artfully arranged flowers, as well as a full line of all natural body care and free range chicken and duck eggs. Robin's flower farm is on the Chesapeake/Portsmouth border and her blossoms are grown without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. When she is not coaxing blooms out of the ground and into vases, she loves to create "garden inspired" soaps, lotions, and all manner of balms out of plant based oils, essential oils, and local beeswax. The eggs she brings to the market are from free ranged birds with access to certified organic soy free feed made right here in Virginia. They come in her signature pink egg carton!
As a working woman, wife and mother of two, Tonya Newsome had acquired over 20 years of cleaning and housekeeping experience. The Neighborhood Harvest is a hydroponic farm in Suffolk that delivers lettuces, greens, herbs, microgreens, produce and even eggs, bread, Virginia-sourced milk and other specialty items--right to your doorstep (home or business)! Not everyone can make it to the market every week, and this is a great way to still have access to fresh, locally farmed food. It's also a salad-lover's dream come true! They carry just about anything you'd want to make an array of amazing salads, including a signature line of dressings. Choose only the items you want, as well as the frequency of delivery.
From bean to cup, the goal at Three Ships Coffee is to give customers a truly different coffee experience. Their style of coffee is heavily influenced by Scandinavian roasters and coffee experiences in the Pacific Northwest. Each coffee has its own unique story. Its origin, farmer and terroir are celebrated by the Three Ships roasting team with a unique roast profile that expresses natural beauty and complexity. They will be bringing ethically sourced, locally roasted beans to the market, as well as cold brew.
